Dear Friends of Dhole’s Den,
You must be wondering why a calendar Comes so late into February. The reason is we deliberately wanted to time it with our 5th anniversary. It was on 14th February 2009 that Dhole’s Den welcomed some friends to stay at what is now a safari-homestay.
Rohit Varma whose calendar we are proud to call our own has been supporting our activities and a Friend of the foundation since our inception. You may have seen many wildlife calendars published by various photographers but this one is special. It Comes from someone who came as a guest and has become a very dear friend of ours.
Besides the fact that the proceeds from the sale of this calendar go directly into financing activities in conservation and education, this calendar according to us showcases flora and fauna in a very special way. The subject per se isn’t the only important matter in a photograph of his. The habitat, the mood and the moment is perfectly captured on the various stills.
It`s to be noted that except the Robber fly image all the others have been shot without a tripod and that fact brings to light the 3 major pillars on which his art is based upon:
Persistence, Perseverance and Perfection
And these are the very 3 principles on which green living should be resting on and we at Dhole’s Den strive to achieve.
A stay at our sponsor ‘Dhole’s Den’ the eco-friendly and green safari homestay in Bandipur national park is a great start to know, how each one of us can start to living green. We wish Rohit great success with the calendar and join him in wishing you a greener 2014.
